For What It's Worth, What Say You?

Statement From the National Rifle Association of America Regarding Today's White House Task Force Meeting

Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association of America is made up of over 4 million moms and dads, daughters and sons, who are involved in the national conversation about how to prevent a tragedy like Newtown from ever happening again. We attended today's White House meeting to discuss how to keep our children safe and were prepared to have a meaningful conversation about school safety, mental health issues, the marketing of violence to our kids and the collapse of federal prosecutions of violent criminals.
We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment. While claiming that no policy proposals would be “prejudged,” this Task Force spent most of its time on proposed restrictions on lawful firearms owners - honest, taxpaying, hardworking Americans. It is unfortunate that this Administration continues to insist on pushing failed solutions to our nation's most pressing problems. We will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen. Instead, we will now take our commitment and meaningful contributions to members of congress of both parties who are interested in having an honest conversation about what works - and what does not.

You can't reason and have a discussion with a tyrant.

No, and it sounds like the NRA is taking your advice and taking their argument (and their money) to congress members. My only question is, is this statement their line in the sand? Or is it promotional?

We all know the tyrant is going to issue his E.O. The question is what will the congress and courts do? If they puss out, then its up to the people. Obama is not above killing or putting his own people in concentration camps. Of that I have no doubt.

Well said, cranky. And the second amendment is to protect us from tyranny. (as we all know)
And a good statement from the NRA. I think they got the message about comprimise from the membership
Let me put in a good word for the Second Amendment Foundation. The redhead and I are both members of both the NRA and the SAF.

On a WAY OFF tangent, MissK and I have noticed that, in spite of being only 10% of the population, an inordinately large number of Patriot men are or have been in relationships with redheads. Just think it would be an interesting sociological study.

No offense Wiser, but the Missus, ain't a redhead. And she married a patriot. Of course, most married men welcome death so it don't matter,

None taken, I didn't say ALL, I said a large number. Statistically speaking, it's strange.

Well the redheads are a thing of beauty and delight, but I have found that most of them can go from 0 to 100mph and from 100 to 0 just as quick.

As far as brass and lead? Plenty here, just some assembly required.

"...from 0 to 100mph and from 100 to 0 just as quick."

Meaning? I don't know where these myths start. I am the most even-tempered, calm redhead in the world.

You must be a statistical anomaly among the redheads I have previously studied.

I didn't finish.
Until I get pissed. Then I'll rip your arms off and beat you unconscious with them. Step over your body and go make a pitcher of margaritas.
Better?

Ah, now my faith in humanity is restored!

Always happy to help. :-)

Fuck the NRA. If it wasn't for gun laws they'd have to go out and find honest jobs.
It's an organizations that survives and gets rich off compromises.

wirecutter, I have a healthy level of skepticism. They aren't going to say "No more." But more like "We'll give you this if you let us keep that." Not that it'll matter, because the plan is to leave us with nothing.
